PSG coach avoids legal controversy, stresses focus on leadership & upcoming Ligue 1 match
Enrique Dodges Hakimi Case Question With Style: "Well, I’ll Leave Now"
Luis Enrique kept his silence on the sensitive case involving Achraf Hakimi during his pre match press conference ahead of PSG’s trip to Marseille.
Prosecutors Push for Trial
French daily L'Equipe reported on Friday that prosecutors in Nanterre have requested Hakimi be referred to criminal court on charges linked to sexual assault.
The move follows investigations launched in early 2023 after 24 year old woman filed complaint.
When asked why Hakimi still serves as PSG’s vice captain despite the legal situation, Enrique refused to comment. He smiled briefly before saying:
"Well, I’ll leave now"
The Spanish coach later clarified that team leadership's determined by the players, not him:
"As always, when people ask about captains, I don’t choose them. The players decide who represents the team. Don’t you know who the leaders are? The first captain's Marquinhos"
Enrique stressed his desire to separate legal matters from team affairs shifting attention back to Sunday’s ligue 1 showdown against Marseille.
