Enrique Riquelme to contact Jürgen Klopp if elected Real Madrid president

Enrique Riquelme says he would contact Jürgen Klopp this summer and offer him the Real Madrid head coach job if he wins Sunday’s presidential election. The candidate said in a statement that Klopp is his preferred choice should members back his bid.

Riquelme is standing against incumbent Florentino Pérez, who has led the club since 2009. Klopp was at Liverpool until 2024.

In the build-up, the businessman has outlined plans that include the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Rodri.

He has also proposed Raúl as sporting director, with Fernando Hierro to run the academy.

On 3 June, Pérez shared a campaign video on X featuring José Mourinho in a Real Madrid shirt, which was seen as probably hinting at a return if he is re-elected.
