Enyimba FC has a new sporting director

Enyimba FC has announced a major change. Uche Okechukwu, former Super Eagles defender, is the club’s new Sporting Director. He takes over from Ifeanyi Ekwueme, who stepped down following recruitment and management issues that weighed heavily on the team’s results this season.

Uche Okechukwu brings a wealth of international experience. He earned 47 caps for Nigeria, featured in two World Cups and two AFCON tournaments, and was crowned African champion in 1994. He also won Olympic gold at the 1996 Games. At club level, he spent 13 years in Turkey, becoming the country’s longest-serving foreign player and even obtained Turkish citizenship under the name Deniz Uygar. Enyimba hopes his experience will help the club return to winning ways.
