Enzo Maresca has had his say on the announcement of Ange Postecoglou's dismissal from his post at Nottingham Forest after Saturday's defeat to Chelsea.

Despite the struggle in the first half, Chelsea collected the three points at the City Ground and, as a result, extended Nottingham Forest's winless streak under Postecoglou to eight games.

The former Tottenham Hotspur head coach had been under a lot of pressure before this game, but this loss in particular triggered the Nottingham Forest hierarchy to make a decision.

"Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect," the official statement from the club, which was released not long after the final whistle, reads.

Maresca admitted that while he sympathises with sacked Postecoglou, he insisted that everyone in their position is under similar pressure.

"I feel really sorry," the Chelsea boss told TNT Sports when speaking about Postecoglou's dismissal.

"It's always a shame.

"I've said it many times that, unfortunately, it's a business where you have to win games.

"Otherwise, for all of us, it's the same consequence."

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Maresca also said that he did not get the chance to talk to Postecoglou due to his touchline ban.

"I didn't speak with Ange. I didn't see him, but I just said I feel very sorry for him," he explained.

Despite Maersca's comment, however, he is clearly in a much better position than Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest, especially since Chelsea are on a three-game winning streak.

Chelsea have now dropped down to sixth in the Premier League table, after climbing to fourth right after full-time, but they remain just two points off the top spot.
