Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Joao Pedro wasn’t 100% fit against Brentford, but he still chose to start the Brazilian.
Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw at Brentford on Saturday evening after conceding a stoppage time equaliser from a long throw in.
The Blues recovered from a poor first half, and found themselves 2-1 up with less than ten minutes left thanks to goals from Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.
Maresca made a number of changes to the side as expected given injuries and the international break, as well as the game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
The likes of Reece James, Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer were all on the bench, but Pedro once again started as he led the line.

The 23-year-old struggled in the first half like the majority of his team-mates, but improved in the second and got the assist for Palmer’s equaliser.
Pedro was replaced in the second half, and Maresca worryingly confirmed after the game the Brazil international wasn’t fully fit.
“Joao Pedro told me he wasn’t 100 percent fit so if I was thinking of Bayern Munich then I wouldn’t play him,” he said as quoted on X.com.
Chelsea have a few days to recover before travelling to Munich for their opening Champions League game, and will be hoping Pedro is fully recovered by then.
Marc Guiu was surprisingly omitted for the match day squad, with Tyrique George introduced at half time as a striker.

The Blues are now really reliant on Pedro given the lack of quality in the alternative options in the absence of Liam Delap.
Chelsea will have to find answers and alternative solutions, but Delap can’t return soon enough, with the Blues looking light in the centre forward position, and the games are now coming thick and fast.
