The 20-year-old joined Manchester City from boyhood club Palmeiras in January 2025 as an emergency defensive signing amidst a grave personnel crisis that left former manager Pep Guardiola scrambling for solutions in the winter transfer market.

Vitor Reis clarifies Manchester City ambitions amid Etihad Stadium return talk

After impressing Guardiola and his coaching staff in his early months in England, Reis was sent on loan to CFG owned Girona to progress and develop with a view of bringing the young centre-half back to the Etihad Stadium in the seasons to come.

Report: Man City plan to include Reis in first-team plans

As reported by Brazilian outlet GE, Manchester City officials are planning to re-integrate Reis into the first-team ranks at the Etihad Stadium next season.

City are expected to confirm the appointment of Enzo Maresca as manager in the coming days, with the Italian signing a three year deal upon his return to the north-west just months after parting company with Chelsea.

Reis impressed on and all during his year abroad and will provide greater cover in a backline that welcomed Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for £20 million in January.

However, with Ruben Dias recently being linked with an exit, City sporting director Hugo Viana and co are working to arm Maresca with ample depth at the heart of defence.

Josko Gvardiol also returned to full fitness in the back end of the recent season, with the 24-year-old set to feature for Croatia at the upcoming FIFA World Cup across the Atlantic.

City have recently seen John Stones leave the club on a free transfer, with Nathan Ake‘s future in Manchester also in doubt as the 31-year-old enters the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.

As things stand, Reis is expected to report from Manchester City pre-season duties in July as he takes some time off after a demanding yet formative period in Spain.
