Eric Dier (32) could leave AS Monaco just one year into his three-year deal, according to CEO Thiago Scuro.
Dier joined Monaco last summer on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract at Bayern Munich. However, it was an injury-hit campaign for the Englishman, who was restricted to just 13 appearances in all competitions.
There are now doubts pertaining to his continuation at the club. It comes amid the DNCG’s decision to observe Monaco’s wage bill. “It is not an imposition from the DNCG (French football’s financial watchdog), it is a plan that we presented to them,” said Scuro in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
But it could see high earners, such as Dier, leave. “Of course, he could leave,” began Scuro. “It is a topic. We have already spoken with him and his agents. It is also about finding the right conditions for Monaco, too. When you have to make a change to the wage bill, the players who have the biggest contracts have to be a topic.”
