Barcelona President Joan Laporta has announced the impending contract renewal for defender Eric García.

Speaking at a press conference during his presidential campaign ahead of the club's elections, Laporta confirmed that the 24-year-old Spanish centre-back will formalize a new deal with the Blaugrana in the coming days.

"Eric García will sign a new deal with the Blaugrana as soon as next week," Laporta stated.

García initially joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2021. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Girona before returning to the Catalan club for the current campaign.

This season, García has made 20 appearances for Barcelona, contributing one goal and one assist. His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, and his market value is currently estimated at 25 million euros by Transfermarkt.
