Stade Brestois returned to Francis-Le Blé on Saturday 1 August, their first match there since the death of head coach Éric Roy on 17 June. There was no formal ceremony on the day.
Brest faced neighbours Guingamp, the Ligue 2 side, in their third pre-season friendly and drew 3-3. The game kicked off in the late afternoon.
Many supporters paid their respects to Éric Roy throughout the afternoon, pausing by a triple portrait of the coach fixed to a wall of the ground. The turnout underlined the affection he inspired.
Since 17 June tributes have continued across Brest. Éric Roy died of pancreatic cancer at 58, and the club and city have been in mourning.
A larger commemoration is set for 13 September, when Paris-SG visit Francis-Le Blé.
