Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has revealed how his team masterminded a 3-1 win over rejuvenated Kazier Chiefs in their Betway Premiership clash.

Babina Noko handed the Soweto giants their first defeat of the season to move top of the table, thanks to a Bradely Grobler double and a Thabang Monare strike to overpower Flavio Silva’s goal.

As a result, Sekhukhune became the first club to score against Chiefs this season and Tinkler has since shed light on how his troops achieved the feat.

“Chiefs like to play this very high line and because of that highline they can be punished. So, we punished them today [Tuesday] because they gave us space in behind,” he said.

However, while the former Cape Town City mentor successfully strategized Amakhosi’s downfall, he acknowledges Nasreddine Nabi’s side has vastly improved.

“First and foremost, the planning leading up to the game, analyzing Chiefs and we know that so far this season, they have actually been a very good team, difficult team to beat. I think they are a rejuvenated team,” Tinkler added.

“They are playing a lot better football than they did in previous seasons. So, we knew this game was going to be extremely tough, but we came with a game plan. We worked on it during the week, and I felt when those moments came, we took the opportunities.

“I am very proud of the boys because everything we did in training came out on the pitch today and I have said this before – most times that’s how I judge myself as a coach, what we do in training are we transferring it onto the field? I think we did that this evening.
