Erick Pulgar left Flamengo’s win over Cruzeiro with visible facial scratches after a combative night that sealed a place in the Libertadores quarter-finals.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the Chilean was seen in the Maracanã mixed zone after the final whistle with marks on his face and, despite repeated requests, he declined to stop for interview.

Pulgar completed all 90 minutes. In stoppage time he contested a ball with João Costa that ended in a collision. Earlier he was involved in strong challenges with Gerson and with Matheus Pereira.

The tie opened at the Mineirão and finished 1-1. The return took place at the Maracanã on Wednesday 19, where Flamengo dominated the first half and Arrascaeta scored a fine goal.

After the break Lucas Romero levelled the match, then Samuel Lino produced a smart finish to secure the win and send Mengão through. Flamengo now await Independente del Valle (EQU) or Tolima (COL) in the last eight.

With Pulgar available, Flamengo meet Cruzeiro again in the Brasileirão on Saturday 22 at 20:30 Brasília time, this time at the Mineirão.
