Former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is still trying to sort out his future in management.

Life at United

Ten Hag was appointed manager of the club in 2022 and guided the team to a third place finish and a Carabao cup win in his first season.

The second year also saw a trophy as United won the FA Cup but witnessed a massive decline in league performances as they finished eighth.

The third year was also very disappointing and the Dutchman was sacked on October 2024 after a 1-2 defeat to West Ham United.

Bayer Leverkusen fiasco

Ten Hag spent the rest of the season out of work but decided to join Leverkusen in Germany in the summer.

In a calamitous time at the club, he was fired after only three matches.

Reportedly, he had fallen out with the players, board members and had made an overall terrible impression at the club in only a matter of months.

Return

Since his sacking, Ten Hag has been linked to jobs in England such as the Wolverhampton Wanderers position.

Nonetheless, it was reported last week that Ten Hag was in discussions with former club Ajax to complete a sensational return.

Dutch paper AD has poured cold water over the idea of Ten Hag returning to Ajax though.

The article states that, “Erik ten Hag will not be the new coach of Ajax. The Tukker native is not keen on returning to the Amsterdam club, despite a number of informal discussions with technical director Alex Kroes, among others.”

Reportedly, “Ten Hag does not see sufficient basis for a successful collaboration in the short term, now that numerous positions at Ajax have become uncertain.”

The paper also comments that, “Ten Hag turned down interested Wolverhampton Wanderers last week and is still considering his future.”
