The Norwegian striker will lead City’s attack at home to Bournemouth as they begin a new era at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola’s managerial successor, Enzo Maresca.

A new season has brought with it a drastic change in style for Haaland, who has had his famous long blond locks chopped off in favour of a strikingly shorter cut.

The 26-year-old posted pictures on social media just a few hours ahead of kick-off against Bournemouth showing his fresh look, with a full video uploaded to his official YouTube channel.

“New season, new trim,” Haaland wrote alongside the images on X. He then added: “Short hair, don’t care.”

Haaland will be eager to help City bounce back quickly against Bournemouth after they were brushed aside 3-0 in ruthless fashion by title rivals Arsenal in last weekend’s one-sided Community Shield clash in Cardiff.

It was a hugely disappointing start to his City coaching reign for ex-Chelsea boss Maresca, who has enormous shoes to fill after former mentor Guardiola stood down at the end of last season following a trophy-laden decade in charge at the Etihad.

Haaland is the overwhelming favourite in 2026/27 to claim a fourth Premier League Golden Boot award in the last five seasons, having netted 27 goals in 35 top-flight appearances last term to finish five strikes clear of his nearest rival - Igor Thiago of Brentford.

He notched 38 times in 52 outings overall to improve his total remarkable tally for City to 162 - plus 30 assists - in 199 appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund in a £52.1million transfer in the summer of 2022.

Haaland enters the new Premier League campaign on the back of a superb World Cup with Norway, where he scored seven goals in five matches and led his country to the quarter-finals on their first appearance at the tournament since 1998, bowing out to England after extra time.

Haaland was one of the stars of the World Cup, with Norway taking the competition by storm as their ‘Viking Row’ celebration repeatedly went viral.
