Manchester City and Norway forward Erling Haaland’s new YouTube channel has taken off in the last few days, to say the least.

Revered by the Manchester City fanbase for his hilarious, nonchalant self in interviews, Haaland has become a very likeable figure in modern football since he moved to the Etihad Stadium from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

The Leeds-born star is scoring goals for fun this season and has been the single most important influence driving Manchester City’s charge for the Premier League title this term, having scored 15 times in 11 games in all competitions for the Blues since August.

Pep Guardiola has waxed lyrical of his talisman’s form but has consequently expressed concerns over Manchester City’s growing reliance on Haaland to bail them out of jail every week, with goals drying up from midfield and elsewhere in attack.

City face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday as they look to keep up the pressure on league leaders and title rivals Arsenal, who are three points clear of Pep Guardiola’s men at the top of the Premier League table.

Haaland is set to start on Sunday as City aim for another three points in the league but this week has been dominated by the launch of the Norway international’s official YouTube channel, which is set to provide a peak through the curtain into Haaland’s life behind the scenes.

Manchester City fans have raved about the striker’s likeable personality – as on display in his first YouTube video, titled ‘Day in the Life of a pro footballer: Erling Haaland’, where the forward walks his audience through how an ideal training, non-game day looks for him.

Special appearances in the video include those of Haaland’s partner Isabel Haugseng, with whom the forward shares a child, Manchester City first-team physiotherapist Mario Pafundi as well the owner of a local farm in Cheshire, where Haaland drives to pick up his meat and milk supply for the day.

From making his early morning coffee and two-egged omelette to an ice bath followed by sauna in the evening, Haaland is shown enjoying a meticulous routine as he walks his audience through what it is like in the day of a life of a professional footballer.

The former Dortmund man also partakes in a friendly yet competitive cooking challenge with his partner for dinner, with football fans heaping praise on the Norwegian’s down-to-earth and ever-so-relatable persona when he remarks, “F***ing hell, that looks unbelievable!” at the dinner menu, comprising of rib -eye steak, potatoes and a vegetable salad.

From supporting local milk and poultry farms to avoiding a larger-than-life, pompous self and just being himself, Haaland has followed in the footsteps on Tottenham forward James Maddison, who has documented his ACL injury recovery on YouTube in recent months.

While Pep Guardiola admitted to not having checked out Haaland’s YouTube channel in a press conference on Friday, the Manchester City boss will know fully well that his talisman’s exploits have only come as a result of his dedication and attention to the little details day-in and day-out that have made him arguably the world’s most feared striker.
