Espanyol boss: Roberto Fernández ‘will be at Man City next year’ if he continues current form | OneFootball

Espanyol head coach Manolo González has early this week tipped star frontman Roberto Fernández for the very top of the game.

This comes fresh off another outing to remember for the attacker this past weekend. En route to a 2-0 Espanyol triumph at Osasuna, Fernández was responsible for both of his side’s goals.

All told, this took his tally across the season to date to five goals in five La Liga appearances.

With such stellar form has come inevitable chatter surrounding Fernández’s future in Barcelona, amid early murmurs pointing towards a potential transfer in the summer of 2027.

And one individual of the opinion that precisely as much could yet be forthcoming in the case of the 24-year-old continuing to produce at such an impressive rate is none other than manager Manolo González.

Drawn on Fernández’s name during an appearance in front of the media early this week, Espanyol’s headmaster admitted:

“If he achieves this goals-per-game average, next year he’ll be at Manchester City!”
