Foot Africa can confirm that Esperance de Tunis have reached a total agreement to re-sign Youssef Msakni on a free transfer.

The negotiations commenced in the wake of Youcef Belaili's Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, that's expected to keep him out of action for six to nine months.

Msakni is no stranger to Esperance as he represented the Taraji between August 2008 and January 2013, having joined from Stade Tunisien.

During his first spell with the Tunisian giants, the 35-year-old forward won four league titles, lifted the Tunisian Cup, including the coveted CAF Champions League trophy.

This publication understands that Msakni has been offered a one-and-a-half-year deal and is expected to put pen to paper in the upcoming days.

With 405 appearances to his name and 189 goals accompanied with 119 assists, the former Tunisia international will be a massive boost for Esperance both domestically and on the continent.

The Tunisian champions are pitted in Group D alongside Tanzanian juggernauts Simba SC, Angolan heavyweights Petro de Luanda and Malian giants Stade Malien in the Champions League.
