Estrela da Amadora believe they are due 1.2 million euros from Rio Ave after Benfica’s failed move for André Luiz.

"Estrela da Amadora believes it has the right to receive this amount, since it holds 10 per cent of the player's economic rights, and it is not for us to assess whether Rio Ave's decision to reject Benfica's proposal was correct or not," said Paulo Lopo, speaking to A Bola.

"As president of Estrela da Amadora’s SAD, I have a duty to defend the club’s interests uncompromisingly. In this case, and in line with our legal department’s view, I am certain the case is on our side, and I hope the process can be resolved within legal channels and in good faith by all parties involved."

Benfica offered 12 million euros plus three million in bonuses for André Luiz, which Rio Ave rejected. Days later the winger joined Olympiakos for 6.75 million euros, roughly half the Benfica bid.

Olympiakos, led by Evangelos Marinakis, took a hard line because the Greek magnate disliked how Benfica handled the talks, insisting Benfica pay André Luiz’s 20 million euro clause.
