Estudiantes hit by injuries and suspensions before Flamengo Libertadores semi-final | OneFootball

Estudiantes suffered setbacks before the Libertadores semi-final against Flamengo, with three players injured in a 3-1 defeat to Rosario Central in the Supercopa Internacional on Saturday 26.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Gabriel Neves fractured his left wrist and could be out for up to three months, while the club are racing to recover Jalil Elías and Guido Carrillo.

Neves left after 18 minutes following a heavy fall, complained of pain in his left arm, and was taken to hospital.

Elías replaced him but soon felt pain in his left leg and went down, forcing another change. He will undergo tests, and an anterior left thigh issue is suspected.

His involvement in the first leg is in doubt.

Carrillo exited with a muscular problem after providing an assist and will be assessed, leaving him in doubt to face Flamengo.

Coach Cacique Medina has discussed possible reinforcements with the board and must find alternatives in defence and midfield.

Tomás Palacios and Leandro González Pirez are suspended after third yellow cards, and the club are seeking a midfield option.

Transfer windows are closed in Argentina and across South America, but Conmebol allows up to three registration changes for the semi-final, so any arrival could play continentally but not domestically.

The first leg is on 15 October at Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi at 21:30 Brasília time, with the return on 22 October at the Maracanã, also at 21:30. Flamengo’s Ayrton Lucas and Gonzalo Plata are in rehab, while Evertton Araújo is out.
