Ethan Ampadu praised Leeds United’s togetherness and the fighting spirit he says is required at the club after a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace, a night that also brought his first Premier League goal and a six-point cushion on the bottom three.
The Wales international poached the third, a second-half finish, and delivered a captain’s display in midfield. He helped limit Adam Wharton’s influence and has become a key figure under Daniel Farke, not looking out of place in the top flight.
"It was important for us to keep building momentum, and that’s been our message probably ever since we had those difficult results. I think there were like four, three or four in a row where we lost, and everything looked like it was going to be difficult." He told LUTV.
"The togetherness we showed to get back and show the character, the fighting spirit that is required to play for Leeds United. And like I said, to keep building momentum, it’s been a joy at the minute."
Ampadu’s previous Leeds goals were two in an FA Cup win against Peterborough. Matching Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s scoring run appears unlikely any time soon.
