Atletico Madrid have made a strong start to the summer transfer window, having wrapped up a deal for Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand – an announcement is to come in the next couple of weeks. It’s a huge coup for Los Colchoneros, although club bosses are not resting on their laurels.

Further deals are being lined up. A new midfielder is wanted, and Le Normand’s current club and international teammate Mikel Merino is a top target in this regard. A left-sided centre-back is also being worked on, and as per Marca, Feyenoord’s David Hancko is the desired player for Atleti.

Atleti have been in talks with Feyenoord over the last couple of weeks, and with Hancko’s involvement at Euro 2024 having come to an end earlier this week, these negotiations should start to advance. Currently, there is a disparity over the fee involved, with Atleti unwilling to pay the €35m asking price.

Despite this, club officials are still confident of wrapping up a deal, especially as Hancko is extremely interested in a move to Atletico Madrid. Expect significant movement on this in the coming weeks.
