Euro 2024 star Baris Yilmaz has confirmed he’s now in England after claims that Liverpool bid £25m to sign him this summer.

Baris Yilmaz is now in London - confirmed in a photo posted to social media. Turkish outlet Ajanssport says that's very relevant, too, as the winger is the subject of interest from the Premier League.

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur both have eyes on the 24-year-old, for instance. But so do Liverpool.

The suggestion in the report is that the Reds have actually offered £25m for Yilmaz. There's no confirmation, though, of whether that's an official bid or a verbal bid or even just talk of a bid.

But there's certainly smoke here. Maybe it's a sign of Liverpool talks, or maybe West Ham or Spurs. Either way, Yilmaz has stoked the flames by confirming he's in the country.

Now would Liverpool actually need him?

Liverpool like Baris Yilmaz

Yilmaz enjoyed a breakthrough season last time out, forcing his way through to be a key player for Galatasaray. That got him to Euro 2024 with Turkey where he was again impressive.

Zero goals or assists for Yilmaz, admittedly, but he played every minute for Turkey across the tournament. He was unlucky not to get more from it, too, as he did create chances - five, in total - while his dribbling was genuinely brilliant.

Even defensively, Yilmaz impressed. Winning four tackles in a tournament match isn't exactly easy for any player, let alone a winger, but he managed it against Austria.

And those three things will be why Liverpool might move for him. Yilmaz won around 1.6 tackles per 90 in the Super Lig last season, while he consistently completed dribbles and created chances. In all, he finished with six goals and six assists.

They're all things Arne Slot wants from his wide players and if Liverpool want someone to backup Mohamed Salah on the right, Yilmaz could be a fantastic option. So let's see if this one goes anywhere.
