Young Boys 1-4 Panathinaïkós / Europa League
Anass Zaroury made a huge impact Thursday night at Wankdorf. With three goals to his name, the Moroccan international powered Panathinaikos to a commanding 4-1 win over Young Boys in their Europa League group stage opener.
Young Boys hosted Panathinaikos at the Stade de Suisse on Thursday, September 25, to kick off the 2025/26 Europa League campaign. Świderski opened the scoring for the visitors in the 10th minute. Energized by the bright start, Zaroury quickly followed up and netted his first goal in the 13th minute. Then, capitalizing on a fumble from keeper Marvin Keller after a strike from Bakasetas, the Moroccan doubled the advantage in the 19th minute.
Saidy Janko pulled one back for the hosts in the 25th minute with a low-driven shot, but the Bern side couldn’t build on the momentum. Monteiro and Males tried to spark a comeback before halftime, but to no avail. Giorgio Contini stuck with his starting eleven after the break and later made three substitutions, but nothing could turn the tide.
In the 68th minute, Zaroury struck again, completing his hat-trick and putting the result beyond doubt. With this victory, Panathinaikos take a firm grip on their group. Zaroury, meanwhile, now sits atop the competition’s scoring charts.
