Who is Marseille vs. Atalanta referee Siebert

Siebert has been an international referee since 2015. The most important matches he’s overseen in his career are probably the DFL-Supercup Final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in August 2019, a Euro 2020 Round of 16 clash between Wales and Denmark and the FIFA Arab Cup Final in 2021 which saw Ismael Bennacer’s Algeria beat Tunisia.

Italian teams have a decent record with the German official in charge, having lost just two games from 13 with six wins and five draws. Siebert has already met Atalanta three times in his career, and all matches have ended in stalemates.

The last meeting was an away 1-1 draw against Sporting CP in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 this season. Siebert’s first Atalanta match was an away 1-1 draw against Lyon in the Europa League group stage in 2017, while the second ended in a 3-3 stalemate in the Champions League group stage in 2021 away at Young Boys.
