Bayern Munich ready to challenge for top defender

One of the many defenders linked with a summer switch to Anfield is Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix, who has established himself as one of the Eagles best players in recent seasons.

The 25-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time but, according to a new report from TEAMtalk, the Reds aren’t the only team chasing a deal for the Frenchman.

The report claims that Bayern Munich are not only in the race for Lacroix but are the team most actively pursuing a deal.

Palace will demand a fee of around £60 million for the defender, and Liverpool could ‘easily be barged aside’ by Bayern according to the report.

Lacroix played in the Bundesliga before his move to South London, but he has settled well in the Premier League.

The defender made his debut for France this international break, earning himself two caps after replacing the injured William Saliba in Didier Dechamps’ squad.

Having already become a cornerstone of Palace’s defence, and having won two trophies already with the team, it seems like Lacroix’s stock is only going to rise in the coming months.

Lacroix is on the periphery of superstar status and a move to Liverpool could solidify his status as one of the league’s best defenders, but the Reds will face tough competition from Bayern and appear to be at risk of falling behind their German rivals.
