The battle for the 2025 European Golden Boot is intensifying with Erling Haaland continuing to set the pace after scoring his 14th goal of the Premier League season in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

The Norwegian powerhouse now sits top of the Golden Boot standings with 28 point tied with Serbian forward Darko Lemajic of RFS (Latvia) who has scored 28 goal this season in the Latvian Higher League.

Scoring system explained

The European Sports Media ESM formula awards:

  • 2 point per goal in the top five European league (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France).
  • 1.5 point for leagues ranked just below.
  • 1 point for goals in smaller divisions.

That means Haaland’s 14 Premier League goal (×2) earn him 28 point — identical to Lemajic’s 28 goal (×1).

Close contenders

Just behind the leaders are August Brorsen (Djurgardens, Sweden) and Ibrahima Diabate (GAIS, Sweden), each with 18 goal and 27 point keeping pressure on the frontrunners.

Kane & Mbappe level on points

In fifth place sits star-studded trio led by Harry Kane of Bayern Munich who rescued his side with dramatic late equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Union Berlin.

The Englishman’s 13 Bundesliga goal (×2) give him 26 point, level with Kylian Mbappe who also has 13 goal for Real Madrid in La Liga and Finland’s Klaemint Olsen of Runavik (Faroe Islands) — also on 26 point but with 26 goals in lower-ranked league.

Nordic strength in depth

The top ten includes more Scandinavian firepower with Kasper Høgh (FK Bodø/Glimt, Norway), Daniel Karlsbakk (Sarpsborg FF, Norway) and Nahir Besara (Hammarby, Sweden) all tied on 25.5 point from 17 goal apiece.
