Euskal Herriko Txapela final set for Anoeta with tribute to Mikel Etxarri | OneFootball

The 10th Euskal Herriko Txapela final will see Real Sociedad face Athletic Club at Anoeta on 2 October at 19:00, with ETB 1 broadcasting the game. It will also honour long-serving Real Sociedad coach Mikel Etxarri, more recently coach of the Euskal Selekzioa.

On Monday the event was launched in Anoeta’s press room by Arritxu Iribar, organised by Euskal Herria Kirola. As reported by AS, Inaxio Kortabarria and Jose Angel Iribar, who fronted the first edition a decade ago, were in attendance.

Tickets go on sale in the coming days via ehkirola.eu, and at the box office on matchday. Prices are €30, Athletic members get 50% off so pay €15, under-14s €10. Real Sociedad members enter free, though their usual seats are not guaranteed.

The Aitor Zabaleta South Stand will be reserved for Real Sociedad’s supporters’ groups, while Athletic’s groups will be invited to the North Stand, known as the Family Stand.

The match will be two halves of 45 minutes with no extra time, and penalties if level. Teams may make six substitutions in three windows. It will be the first time the EH Txapela is staged in a stadium of this scale.

Kortabarria said Basque football looks healthy, with clubs reaching Europe and academy work bearing fruit. Iribar stressed continued youth development and trying to be in Europe, calling it the pinnacle for competition and money, and noted Athletic missed out last season but are trying again.
