In January, it’s likely a farewell between Roma and Evan Ferguson.

Despite his positive initial impressions during preseason, his performances in the first half of the season haven’t convinced Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Irish striker had raised some hopes with his flash of quality in Glasgow against Celtic, a match in which he scored a brace in the first 45 minutes.

The reality, however, was quite different. Gasperini’s comments after the defeat against Juventus seem to signal the end of Ferguson’s time in the capital.

At the end of December, the former Brighton striker boasted a meager goal against Cremonese and an assist for Dybala in Pisa’s 1-0 Roma defeat on matchday two. Too little for someone who arrived in Rome hoping to outperform Dovbyk last year.

The future of the Irish striker, born in 2004, appears uncertain: he could return to Brighton, the club that owns his contract, or move to Turkey, where, according to journalist Emre Kurtulmus, he has been offered to Fenerbahce.

One thing seems certain: in January, Ferguson and Roma will part ways for good.
