Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was involved in an altercation in the stands during Sunday’s Euroleague basketball final in Athens.
Footage on social media showed Marinakis, 58, in a ripped white T-shirt gesturing across barriers at Telekom Center Athens. The videos do not reveal who he was arguing with, but local media reported it to be Grigoris Dimitriadis, the nephew of and a former adviser to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
A second clip shows him surrounded by five people and being kept apart from another group. Videos from the Euroleague final were posted from Dimitriadis’ Instagram account. A spokesperson for Marinakis declined to comment.
Marinakis, who also owns Olympiacos, was at the game to see his club beat Real Madrid 92-85, the team’s first Euroleague title in 13 years.
Forest ended their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth to finish 16th. Former Olympiacos head coach Vitor Pereira oversaw safety after becoming Forest’s fourth separate permanent head coach of the campaign.
