Nottingham Forest have confirmed Oliver Glasner as head coach, and Evangelos Marinakis said on the club website that the Austrian’s relentless desire to succeed makes him the right fit.
Glasner replaces Vitor Pereira, dismissed last week after just four months at the City Ground despite steering the side away from relegation trouble. Reports emerged immediately that Forest wanted the former Crystal Palace coach.
The 51-year-old was a free agent after leaving Selhurst Park following the most successful period in Palace’s history, when they won their first two major trophies. He previously managed Eintracht Frankfurt.
Marinakis said their discussions showed a shared vision and ambition, and he praised Glasner’s record of building strong teams and achieving success against top competition.
He reiterated the aim to re-establish Forest among the leading clubs in England and Europe, with the ambition to win, challenge for major honours and make supporters proud for years to come. Forest have not won a front-line trophy since 1990.
Describing Glasner as a winner whose leadership, personality and playing style have underpinned previous success, Marinakis welcomed him to the club.
