Glorioso 1904 reports that Evangelos Marinakis could move Rio Ave winger André Luiz to Olympiacos for a fee lower than Benfica were asked, with a switch to Greece now very close.
The reversal in this window has caught Benfica off guard. The Greek club owner is understood to be preparing a behind-the-scenes play to land the Brazilian.
Rio Ave demanded about €20 million from Benfica to release the forward, a figure deemed prohibitive. For the Piraeus side, the fee could be €15 million, highlighting a clear discrepancy in terms.
Although André Luiz preferred a move to Estádio da Luz, his likely destination appears to be abroad. Business interests are steering him away from Lisbon and towards a contract with the Greek club.
This season he has 18 appearances for Rio Ave, 17 in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal, across 1,390 minutes. The winger has scored seven goals and provided five assists. He is valued at €4 million and is under contract until June 2029.
