Which of Coventry City's players are destined to play in the Premier League, regardless of whether they win promotion or not?
Coventry City took another step closer to winning promotion into the Premier League over the weekend, as they edged out Stoke City in front of their home supporters.
The win saw Frank Lampard's side retain their nine-point lead over Millwall in the Championship table, although Ipswich Town narrowed the gap with a midweek win. There's just 11 games remaining in Coventry's season, and they'll be quietly confident of keeping hold of top spot in the second-tier standings, especially considering they're on a strong run of form, with the Sky Blues winning their last four league matches.
Here, we take a look at five Coventry City players who are destined to play in the Premier League next season, regardless of whether the Sky Blues falter in their bid for promotion.

The Dutch right-back has been hugely impressive since signing for Coventry back in July 2023, and he's gone from strength to strength, forming a strong back-line for Frank Lampard's men.
The 25-year-old has been ever-present in the Sky Blues starting XI this term, and has only missed two league games so far. He's made notable contributions at both ends of the pitch for Coventry as well, as van Ewijk has chipped in with seven assists in this year's league campaign.
At the age of 25, he's still got plenty of room to develop his game, and if he can continue on this upwards trajectory, then it wouldn't be at all surprising to see him adjusting well to the physical demands of Premier League football.

There were high hopes for Rudoni when Coventry spent just shy of £5m for the midfielder, and he's starting to justify the price that the Sky Blues stumped up for him originally.
Rudoni has scored in his last three matches, which includes a stunning strike against relegation-threatened West Brom at The Hawthorns.
The 24-year-old is a versatile option to play in the centre of midfield, or further forward in the central attacking midfield role, where he's been a significant goal threat for Lampard's side.
Rudoni has been linked with a move away from Coventry, and Football League World exclusively revealed that the Sky Blues had set a £15 million price tag on his head for any potential suitors.

Grimes briefly played in the Premier League in the early days of his time with Swansea City in the 2014/15 season, and it looks as though he could be set to make a long-awaited return to the top-flight.
Grimes is key to Coventry retaining possession, and is averaging 60 accurate passes a game with the Sky Blues. The Coventry skipper deserves a shot at the Premier League once again on a regular basis, and it seems as though he won't be waiting too long for that, providing that his side can hold their nerve in the race for promotion into the top-flight.

Wright went through somewhat of a goal drought through the middle of the 2025/26 season, but he's starting to find his form in front of goal at the ideal time for Coventry City, as they battle to hold onto top spot in the second-tier standings.
The 27-year-old has netted 15 league goals for the Sky Blues this term, with his most notable showing coming against promotion rivals Middlesbrough, where Wright scored an impressive hat-trick.
Wright's best season in terms of goals with Coventry came back in the 2023/24 season, where he scored 16 league goals, as well as three in the FA Cup, and so you would imagine that he's well-placed to beat that tally with 11 league games remaining this term.

Thomas has been a regular in the starting XI for Coventry this term, and has made 28 league appearances in total in this year's Championship campaign. The centre-back still has another year to run on his current contract with the Sky Blues, and you would imagine that he'll commit his future to the club sooner rather than later, especially if they're to win promotion into the Premier League this season.
Thomas has previously spoken out about his future, and stated that he would be addressing his contract situation upon the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
He's 25-year-old, and arguably still has his best years ahead of him, and so it'll be interesting to see if he can adjust to the demands of playing against the best forwards in the country next season if Coventry secure top-flight status ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
