Anyone who works at FC Bayern is automatically under constant scrutiny, but ex-Bayern co-coach Danny Röhl believes that even the enormous pressure at the German record champions has now been surpassed

The current Rangers coach worked under Hansi Flick at FC Bayern between 2019 and 2021, during which time he won the Champions League. Röhl then moved to the German national team together with Flick before starting his own coaching career after Flick’s DFB retirement

In an interview with BILD, Röhl drew a remarkable comparison between Rangers and the German record champions: „This club is extremely special and demanding. And I have experienced Bayern Munich, I know what kind of title pressure there is,“ explained the coach

But that’s not all: „It’s even more brutal here,“ Röhl made clear. Above all, the environment and the constant media scrutiny are extremely intense in Glasgow. „Because here, too, the media and the surrounding area are billed every day,“ the former Bayern co-coach continued

Rangers, together with Celtic Glasgow, have been one of the dominant clubs in Scottish soccer for decades

Expectations at the club are correspondingly high and any trophy not won is almost automatically seen as a disappointment

Röhl is therefore consciously trying to bring calm to the club. „You can’t celebrate victories too euphorically and you can’t let defeats drag you down too much. The team needs calm and composure,“ explained the 37-year-old

Röhl experiences everyday soccer in a completely different way

His life off the pitch has also changed significantly compared to his time in Munich. „I don’t really have a private life,“ Röhl revealed openly

Above all, the rivalry between Rangers and Celtic has had a massive impact on everyday life in Glasgow. „When I walk through Glasgow, everyone recognizes me now,“ said the coach

What is particularly curious is that the reactions depend greatly on which part of the city he is walking through. „You are greeted and spoken to by one half of the city. The others look at you and look away annoyed,“ said Röhl with a grin

Despite the enormous pressure, Röhl still looks back positively on his time at FC Bayern. Under Hansi Flick, he was part of the coaching team during what was probably Bayern’s most successful period in recent years

In Munich, Röhl won the Champions League, the Bundesliga and several national titles, among others, and his experiences from this time are clearly helping him to deal with the enormous pressure at Rangers today.
