Everton have reportedly submitted an improved €41m official offer for Barış Alper Yılmaz after Galatasaray rejected an earlier €35m verbal proposal. Sport Witness, relaying Turkish journalist Yakup Çınar and Super Haber, says the new bid has fallen short of the Turkish champions’ valuation. The report says the clubs expect further talks in the coming days. Yılmaz reportedly wants a move to the Premier League, while David Moyes wants greater depth on the left flank.
The winger is 26, having turned 26 on May 23, 2026. His 2025/26 numbers provide a better guide than his age, with eight goals and 11 assists in 30 Süper Lig appearances, plus 1 goal and 1 assist across 12 Champions League matches.
For Moyes, this chase makes football sense. Yılmaz offers pace, aggression and positional flexibility, which suits a side that want quicker transitions and more threat from wide areas. His ability to attack space, press defenders and cover ground could give Everton a different dimension after an inconsistent attacking season.

Still, €50m would represent a sizeable commitment for a player whose club career has remained in Türkiye. That risk matters. Everton need several improvements across the squad, and committing the extra €9m could limit room elsewhere.
The financial argument deserves care, too. Premier League clubs replaced PSR with the Squad Cost Ratio and Sustainability and Systemic Resilience rules for 2026/27. Current independent estimates place Everton’s squad-cost ratio around 102%, with roughly £28m below the upper threshold, so every expensive addition deserves scrutiny.
Galatasaray can point to Yılmaz’s value and a contract running until 2028, but Everton shouldn’t rush. Galatasaray have explored attacking replacements, including Rafael Leão and Gabriel Martinelli, which could dictate their negotiating position.
Paying €41m could make sense. Paying €50m simply to force through a late-window deal looks harder to justify. Moyes should keep talks open, test Galatasaray’s resolve and protect funds for defensive depth, even if Yılmaz remains an attractive fit for Everton.
