Everton youngster Martin Sherif has been formally charged by The Football Association for allegedly breaching its betting regulations.

The 20-year-old forward stands accused of violating FA Rule E1.2 in relation to 61 bets placed on football matches across a 15-month timeframe between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026.

The governing body confirmed the charges in an official statement, giving the player until Monday, 17 August 2026 to submit a formal response. Rule E1.2 strictly prohibits anyone involved in professional football in England — including players, coaching staff, and officials — from placing direct or indirect wagers on any football match anywhere in the world, or passing on inside information for gambling purposes.
