Everton and Brighton are both reportedly interested in bringing former Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei back to the Premier League after a productive first full season in Serie A. According to Italian daily Tuttosport, the 23-year-old’s consistent performances for Torino have attracted serious scrutiny from English scouts. Everton have been tracking him since at least March, and their interest has only grown stronger as the summer window approaches.

Everton and Brighton Target Torino’s Standout Midfielder

Since joining Torino from Chelsea for approximately €13 million last February, Casadei has established himself as a regular in the starting XI, making 33 appearances and contributing six goals from central midfield. That output from a box-to-box player reveals that he has rediscovered his confidence on home soil, far from the suffocating pressure of life at Stamford Bridge.

Everton Face Resistance From Torino Over Asking Price

Torino have no intention of selling unless a particularly substantial bid lands on the table. Having invested around €13 million to bring him to Turin, the club are believed to value the midfielder at no less than €18 million, with three years still remaining on his contract. Several reports place Torino’s valuation closer to €30 million, with the club viewing Casadei as a cornerstone of their long-term project. Sports Boom reported that Torino intended to begin evaluating official bids during the first week of June 2026, suggesting that the situation could accelerate at pace.

Everton’s Midfield Picture and Why Moyes Genuinely Needs Him?

Heading into 2026/27, Everton retain Merlin Rohl, James Garner, Harrison Armstrong, Tim Iroegbunam, Charly Alcaraz, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in midfield, a decent group that nonetheless lacks a true defensive midfielder with Idrissa Gana Gueye’s future uncertain. On paper, that looks adequately stocked. But numbers alone do not settle the argument.

Everton used just 22 players in the Premier League last season, the fewest of any top-flight side, and made only 57 changes to the starting line-up, again the lowest in the division. Moyes ran a tight rotation because he had no choice. Casadei, described by talent scout Jacek Kulig as “powerful,” offers Everton a box-to-box profile with defensive strength and physical presence at 6 feet 4 inches, someone seen as the ideal replacement for the ageing Gueye.

The case for signing him goes beyond raw statistics. Everton need a midfielder who can absorb the physicality of a full Premier League season without fading. Casadei already survived that challenge once during his loan at Leicester, and his adaptation to Serie A proves his quality was never in doubt. The player’s representatives have reportedly signalled that Casadei is ready to take the next step in his career, which only adds to the sense of urgency around where he will land. For Everton, this one is genuinely worth pursuing hard, not just monitoring from a distance.
