Everton are quietly keeping tabs on United States international winger Timothy Weah, reports Rudy Galetti. Goodison Park decision-makers have gone as far as requesting fresh information on what it would take to pry the versatile attacker away from Olympique de Marseille.
Moving to France just last year after leaving Juventus, Weah settled in well enough. He put together a decent campaign in Ligue 1 despite some incredibly frustrating, recurring hamstring problems. Right now, Marseille bosses publicly view the American as a core part of their project. But let’s be real. Money talks.
The French club will absolutely sit down and look at any serious, heavy financial bid that lands on their desk before the window slams shut. Suitors across Europe see real value in his raw, explosive pace down the flanks. He offers something different, and Everton are firmly in that small group of clubs watching his situation develop.

David Moyes needs to pump the brakes on this one. Spending a heavily restricted summer budget on a £15 million gamble is the last thing the Toffees should be doing. It is a massive chunk of change for a player who, frankly, doesn’t score enough goals.
Look at his numbers over the last few seasons. Weah scored just three goals. He simply lacks that clinical, cold-blooded clinicality in the final third. Everton need a guaranteed, direct route to goals, not another inconsistent wide player who might create panic but rarely finishes the job.
Then you have the medical records. Alarm bells should be ringing loudly. Those hamstring strains completely ruined his momentum last term. The Premier League is a physical meat grinder. It will expose those specific muscular weaknesses on day one.
Besides, the current squad is already packed with functional, honest wingers who will run themselves into the ground tracking back. Weah isn’t a massive upgrade on what is already sitting in the dressing room. He is a converted right-back who lacks a ruthless streak.
Moyes needs a proper, proven talisman to lead the line. Spending vital funds on a luxury squad player makes zero sense when the squad has massive, glaring holes in central midfield and defence. The recruitment team must look elsewhere for durable, robust goal threats. Walk away from the table. Put the cash into safer targets.
