Everton have ‘asked’ about signing a former Manchester United midfielder, but it is a ‘difficult deal’, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

There is pressure on Everton to provide boss Sean Dyche with more signings following a disastrous start to the season.

Dyche has insisted there is no money to spend and the club are likely to have to be creative to afford incomings before the window closes.

They are exploring their options and it has now emerged they have ‘asked’ about Sofyan Amrabat.

The Fiorentina man spent last season on loan at Manchester United and waited for much of the summer to see if they would trigger an option to buy him.

They did not, but still for Everton it is rated as a ‘difficult deal’ to do.

Amrabat would have cost Manchester United a fee of £12.7m to bring to Old Trafford, after they paid a loan fee for him last summer.

Returning to the Premier League could be an attractive option for Amrabat, but whether Everton have the finances required to pull off such a deal remains to be seen.

The Toffees are also interested in Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala and would like him on loan.
