Everton are close to securing the signature of Ashley Young, according to Sky Sports. He will sign a one-year deal until 2024 with the option to extend it for another 12 months.

The 38-year-old will reportedly undergo a medical tomorrow as the Merseyside club seeks to complete the deal.

Young left Aston Villa after two years into his second stint. The Villains refused to renew his contract.

The former England international rejected offers from other Premier League and Championship clubs to sign for the Toffees. Also, he had offers from outside Europe but decided to stay in England.

Young becomes Everton’s first summer signing after narrowly escaping relegation last summer.

The club is in financial trouble leading to a board upheaval. Former manager Carlo Ancelotti sued them for commercial disputes. They are going through torrid times.

However, with an incoming new board of directors and new owners set to invest £130 million, the club might not have to suffer through another transfer window and season.

One player they could move for with the new money is Sassuolo left-back Rogerio. According to Tuttomercatoweb, they have enquired about signing the 25-year-old.

The Brazilian left-back is a tenacious little force on the left flank. He is a highly-regarded Serie A full-back and could be an asset for Sean Dyche’s men as they look to keep themselves in the top flight for another year.

Rogerio got his early football training from Internacional, Juventus, and Sassuolo. After a complex series of loans and clauses, he signed for the Neroverdi.

Rogerio made his first-team debut in 2017 and has made over 150 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting nine goals.

The Nobres-born full-back made 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo last season and provided three assists. He won 60% of his ground duels but unsurprisingly won only 40% of his aerial duels due to his height.

However, considering that Everton are close to signing Young, who can fill in at left-back, it will be surprising to see the Merseyside club move for Rogerio.
