The Toffees are confident that they could deal the Magpies a blow and potentially secure a summer deal for Willy Gnonto.
Everton believe they are in a strong position to secure an agreement for Willy Gnonto.
According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees think they have a real chance of beating Newcastle United, who have recently entered the race, to the Italian's signature.
Gnonto is just one of many Leeds players who have been linked with a move away from Elland Road since their play-off final defeat in May, with their attacking players the subject of plenty of interest.
Brighton have recently had a £30m offer rejected for Georginio Rutter, with the Frenchman managing to get his Leeds spell back on track during the 2023/24 campaign.
Crysencio Summerville is another attacking player who has been attracting interest, although that's no major surprise, considering the Dutchman was one of the most prolific players in the Championship last term.
Registering 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 competitive appearances, it would be a surprise if the Dutchman doesn't secure a move away from Elland Road before the window closes during the latter stages of August.
It isn't just their attacking players that have attracted interest though, with Archie Gray making the move to Tottenham Hotspur and Glen Kamara closing in on a switch to Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.
Gnonto struggled during the early stages of last term, but he has been able to become a real asset under Daniel Farke, with his goals and assists helping Leeds to secure a place in the promotion mix.
However, it's unclear whether the wide player will still be at the club when the summer window closes.
According to TEAMtalk, both the Toffees and the Magpies are keen on luring the player back to the Premier League, with the latter potentially having the funds to get a deal over the line under their wealthy owners.
But it's the Merseyside outfit who are confident of securing a deal for the player, even though Leeds aren't prepared to accept a bid of less than £25m for the young winger.
Sean Dyche's side are now in "concrete" discussions to get a deal over the line for the wide player.
Gnonto is thought to be keen on a move to Goodison Park and with his representatives having a good relationship with the Toffees, a deal could potentially be wrapped up.
Gnonto is currently in a good position at Leeds.
As it stands, he looks set to be a vital player during the early stages of the 2024/25 campaign and potentially throughout the season.
That game time will only help him to develop and considering he's only 20 at the moment, game time for him is crucial if he wants to fulfil his potential.
Testing himself at the top level would help him to develop, but right now, he needs to prioritise game time.
That's why he should only make a move to Goodison Park or St James' Park if regular starting opportunities are available there.
