Everton are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool youngster Ben Doak – three decades on from the last time they bought a player from their Merseyside rivals.
The Scotland international spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Middlesbrough, but hasn’t played a game since January due to a thigh injury.
Doak has since made a full recovery after undergoing surgery and is ready to get a full pre-season under his belt this summer.
The 19-year-old could be doing so with the Toffees after Sky Sports News claimed that the club are “keen” on signing the right winger, who “wants” to play in the Premier League next season.
Before picking up his injury, Liverpool reportedly rejected approaches from Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace in the January transfer window. The Eagles are said to be “still monitoring his situation”.
Liverpool are “yet to make a decision on his future” and may not even be willing to do business with their local rivals.
The last player to swap the Reds for Everton was Gary Ablett in 1992, and there has not been a direct transfer between the two sides since Abel Xavier moved to Anfield in 2002.
Everton have also been linked with Sunderland defender Trai Hume, who has attracted interest from Wolves and a number of LaLiga clubs.
