New reports link West Ham United with a shock move for Everton striker Beto. Talk about the forward’s future is picking up as the winter transfer window gets closer. While early rumours suggested the Toffees wanted a swap deal with Roma for Artem Dovbyk, interest from East London is now the main story.

David Moyes has picked the Guinea-Bissau international for every league game this season. That shows he still trusts the player, even though Beto has only scored one goal in that time. Because of that, fans and experts are quite surprised that a Premier League rival wants to sign him.

Beto transfer saga:

Alex Crook broke the news on talkSPORT on December 24. He explained that West Ham are searching hard for a new striker to help them stay up. The Hammers are in a tough spot near the bottom of the table. They need a new number nine to save their season, especially since Niclas Füllkrug looks likely to join AC Milan.

So, the club has put Beto on their shortlist to fill that gap. While talking about the move on air, Crook was blunt about the striker’s form. He said: “The other name, again not inspiring, because he never scores a goal, Beto at Everton.”

Even though Moyes has stuck by the 27-year-old all season, the striker’s failure to score is a massive problem. West Ham clearly think his size and strength can help them survive, despite his poor stats. If the Hammers make a decent offer, Everton might finally get the chance they need to change their attack. West Ham wanted the striker earlier as well.

Should Everton sell him?

Everton should jump at the chance to let Beto go. He has only scored once despite playing all the time under Moyes. The team needs someone who actually finishes their chances. Selling him gives the club money to find a striker who scores goals, which is much better than sticking with a player who doesn’t change the scoreline.
