Everton Pull Plug On Harrison Armstrong To Nottingham Forest | OneFootball

Everton have called off plans to sell midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest due to a fan backlash, according to journalist Paul Joyce.

Forest have been progressing a deal to sign Armstrong from Everton, with a £40m transfer with add-ons on the table.

The move had looked to have a good chance of happening, despite Armstrong not having signed off on it and insisted on playing at Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

Now Everton have pulled the plug on the move due to the angry reaction on the part of the club’s fans.

With Armstrong an up and coming talent and also homegrown, fans were firmly opposed to him being sold to Nottingham Forest and wasted little time in communicating that message to the club.

For Forest, the appeal was clear in that they were seeking to unearth a new Elliot Anderson, after selling him for big money earlier this summer.

With Everton apparently willing to play ball, Nottingham Forest were swinging into action to take Armstrong from the Hill Dickinson.

Now Oliver Glasner’s men will have to look elsewhere for a midfield reinforcement, with the clock ticking down on the transfer window.

Armstrong will be hopeful he can kick on at his boyhood club and start to make a real impact under David Moyes this season.

If he fails to do so then the Toffees could have cause to regret not cashing in.

Everton themselves are expected to want to do substantial business before the transfer window closes, with a move to bring back Jack Grealish still on the table.

Grealish does have interest from elsewhere, but has made returning to the Hill Dickinson his priority.

Everton are set to sanction one departure, with young full-back Adam Aznou poised to complete a loan move to Spanish side Malaga.
