In a recent print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport mentioned that Everton are still showing interest in Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao. It has been revealed that the Toffees want to bring the Brazilian centre-back to Merseyside as they are eyeing him as a replacement for Yerry Mina.

Becao’s Good Start To This Serie A Campaign

The 26-year-old has put in a few dominant displays at the centre of Udinese’s backline but has also missed some games due to injury. Becao has found the back of the net once and picked up one assist in nine appearances for the Italian club this season across various competitions.

The Salvador-born sensation deserves a lot of credit for averaging 3.0 tackles, 1.6 clearances and 0.6 shots per game in Serie A. He has even been careful when distributing possession from the back after completing 79.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

Becao is under contract at Udinese until the summer of 2024. Hence, the Toffees should think about launching a cut-price move for him at the end of this season as he is currently playing at the top of his game and could serve as an ideal replacement for Yerry Mina at the Merseyside club.

Should Everton Boss Frank Lampard Get Rodrigo Becao On Board Next Summer?

Becao can use his strong 1.91m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air and can get stuck in with some crunching tackles on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back. However, it remains to be seen whether the Udinese defensive ace is good enough to cope with the high intensity of Premier League football if Everton decide to sign him in 2023.

We can expect Becao to bring more bite and steel to Frank Lampard‘s defence at Goodison Park and could help the Merseyside club challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few seasons.

At 26, Becao is playing at his peak at the moment, so Lampard should fancy his chances of getting the best out of the Brazilian if he decides to join the Toffees in the not-too-distant future.

His physical prowess and defensive skillset make him a good option for Everton to consider at the end of this campaign. Thus, Lampard would be wise to engineer a move to get Becao on board during the summer transfer window.
