Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, has said the club are ‘very pleased’ to have sealed the loan signing of long-term target Armando Broja.

The Toffees completed a Deadline Day move to sign the Chelsea forward on a season-long loan arrangement, that includes an optional £30m purchase option. There is understood to have been no loan fee paid for the 22-year-old.

Broja moves to Everton after struggling to cement himself in Chelsea’s plans, while the Albanian endured a difficult loan spell at Fulham in 2023/24.

However, the forward is viewed as a player of real potential after impressing during loan spells at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton earlier in his career.

Broja, who has scored five goals in 23 caps at international level, saw a proposed move to Ipswich Town fall through after complications with his medical.

Everton sign Broja after long-standing interest

Thelwell said Everton’s first target will be getting Broja ‘fit as soon as possible’ after adding the Albanian to Sean Dyche’s centre-forward options.

“Having monitored Armando’s journey for a number of years, we’re very pleased to have been able to bring him to the Club,” Thelwell told the club’s official website.

“Armando is still a young player who has already built up some impressive experience but someone we also feel has lots more potential to be unlocked.

“First and foremost, we will work with him to get him fit as soon as possible. Then, his addition will strengthen our options in the attacking department.”
