Matchday 27 of the 2025-26 Premier League season concludes with a meeting between Everton and Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

After claiming a 1-0 victory in November’s reverse fixture, the hosts will set out to complete a first league double over their visitors in 12 years.

Match preview

United suffered their first blip under new boss Michael Carrick in a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on February 10.

The Red Devils were staring down the barrel of a first league defeat since December, following Tomas Soucek’s opener five minutes into the second half, before Benjamin Sesko equalised in stoppage time.

Having watched Chelsea drop points late on at home to Burnley, United have the chance to move three points clear in the race for fourth place with a win in Monday’s upcoming assignment.

However, the away side are winless in their last three meetings with the hosts, although their recent record at Everton makes for good reading with two wins and a draw from the last three visits.

Everton’s four-game unbeaten run ended against Bournemouth last time out, despite taking the lead just shy of half-time through Iliman Ndiaye.

David Moyes’s side conceded twice in three minutes after the break, before Jake O’Brien’s red card all but quashed any hopes of a comeback.

It has largely been a bright campaign for the Toffees, who are ninth in the table, three points shy of seventh-placed Brentford with a game in hand.

Much of Everton’s European ambitions will depend on whether they can get themselves back on track in front of their fans. The Toffees have not won a home game since December 6.

Team news

Jake O’Brien is suspended for Everton, opening the door for Nathan Patterson to feature at right-back.

Jack Grealish has missed his side’s last four matches with a foot issue and remains sidelined.

Patrick Dorgu is nursing a thigh issue he picked up back in January, while Matthijs de Ligt is yet to fully recuperate from a back problem.

Mason Mount has been missing in recent weeks but is nearing a return to action.

Everton predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong; Barry.

Manchester United predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Shaw, Martinez, Maguire, Dalot; Mainoo, Casemiro; Cunha, Fernandes, Diallo; Mbeumo.

Prediction: Everton 1-1 Manchester United.
