Everton took a rare Barclays Women’s Super League point off Arsenal in dramatic fashion, while Manchester City sent Bristol City down.

A 16-year-old debutant scored her first senior goal for Everton, as they denied Arsenal victory in stoppage time and severely dented the Gunners’ title hopes.

Everton’s Karen Holmgaard headed against the bar during a goalless first half, Arsenal’s best chance fell for Caitlin Foord in front of goal but she took a swing and miss at the ball.

Maunela Zinsberger saved a Justine Vanhaevermaet header as the hosts threatened again from a corner, Victoria Pelova then side-fotted wide a glorious opportunity for the Gunners.

Just shy of the final ten minutes, Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan got a boot to Beth Mead’s close-range shot but Alessia Russo buried the rebound.

Eleanor Dale might have done better with a chance to equalise moments later but Issy Hobson found the net with an excellent header following a corner.

Manchester City went six points clear at the top from two more games than main title rivals Chelsea, with a 4-0 victory in front of nearly 9,000 at Ashton Gate, which confirmed Bristol City’s relegation straight back to the Championship.

It was goalless at the break in the bottom versus top match, Amalie Thestrup colliding with visiting keeper Khiara Keating in the hosts’ best chance of the half.

Man City’s efforts on goal did not trouble Shae Yanez enough, Lauren Hemp with a clear opportunity but heading straight at the goalkeeper.

Over an hour was played before the breakthrough came from a Mary Fowler 20-yard strike, the Australian got on the end of a Hemp cross to score again, before Amy Rodgers turned the ball into her own net.

Alex Greenwood buried a header to make it 4-0 with the last play of the game.

West Ham edged closer to survival with a very late equaliser against Aston Villa, despite lisha Lehmann making a 72nd-minute breakthrough at Villa Park.

It looked like it might be enough for all three points but five minutes into added time, Shannon Cooke headed in Riko Ueki’s cross.

Tottenham are almost certain of a top-half finish following a late equaliser against Brighton.

Pauline Bremer’s cross was met by Elisabeth Terland and although Becky Spencer saved her header, she managed to bundle in the rebound for the Seagulls.

It was down to the final nine minutes before Spurs got their leveller, Beth England scoring from Grace Neville’s cross.

Manchester United got the only goal of the game away to Leicester City, Ella Toone striking from distance to secure the points seven minute from the end of the ninety.
