Abdoulaye Doucouré (32), out of contract at Everton in the summer, is the subject of an approach from Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

L’Équipe reported in March that Doucouré’s stay on Merseyside would not be extended. There was an option in Doucouré’s contract to extend his deal with Everton for a further year, however, it was mutually agreed that this option would not be exercised with the end of the season approaching. The former Stade Rennais midfielder will therefore be available as a free agent this summer.

The former Rennais is now attracting interest as the end of the season approaches. Foot Mercato now understands that Al-Shabab have made a concrete approach to sign the Everton midfielder. The Saudi club’s offer is worth $4m a year. However, Doucouré is yet to accept the offer. Foot Mercato understands that the Mali international demands more in order to make the move to the Gulf state.
