If Jaden Philogene joins the Toffees, that could affect any potential move for Leeds-owned winger Jack Harrison.

Everton seem to be on the right track after entering a period of exclusivity with The Friedkin Group regarding a potential takeover.

Considering the club's current financial worries, this could be a game-changer for the Toffees, who will be hoping to be busy between now and the end of the summer transfer window to ensure their squad is more than strong enough to all but guarantee their survival in the Premier League.

In fairness, they have already managed to recruit a couple of additions, with Tim Iroegbunam being recruited from Aston Villa for a reported £9m and Jack Harrison arriving from Leeds United on another season-long loan deal.

In a bonus for the Merseyside club, it has been reported by The Athletic that they didn't have to pay a loan fee to take Harrison back to Goodison Park.

They may have to cover 100% of his wages but if they didn't have to fork out on a loan fee, this is a bargain temporary agreement for the club, which is ideal in their current situation.

Everton's stance on permanent deal for Jack Harrison

Harrison wasn't that effective in front of goal for Sean Dyche's side last term, but he has a second chance to impress at Goodison Park and improve on his record from the 2023/24 campaign.

His eight goals and eight assists in 36 top-tier appearances during the 2020/21 season for the Whites shows he can be more effective at the top level.

Despite the fact he didn't register that many goalscoring contributions last season though, the Toffees have reportedly told Leeds that they hope to be in a position to recruit him permanently if/when a takeover deal happens.

He could potentially make a permanent move to Merseyside next summer if a deal can be agreed, according to The Boot Room.

It has been reported that the Toffees are interested in signing another winger and that isn't a massive surprise considering the Toffees have lost Arnaut Danjuma and Lewis Dobbin in recent months.

Hull City star Jaden Philogene is thought to be on their radar, with the Daily Mail report stating that they are targeting a £16m move for the player - although that likely won't be enough for the Tigers to sell.

They won't be short of competition for his signature, with the likes of FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur also interested in the winger, but Dyche's side seem to be in the mix for the player and could potentially offer him more game time than the other two sides.

That could allow them to win the race for the winger - and they have plenty going for them too.

Not only do they have a proven manager who has done well at this level, but they will also be moving into a new stadium and have been at the top level for many years.

They may have faced relegation danger in recent years, but they seem to be on the right path with Dyche and Goodison Park will be a very attractive destination for many players when a takeover is complete.

Philogene thrived at Hull last term, registering 12 goals and six assists in 32 league appearances, which has allowed him to attract plenty of interest.

The former Villa man has a high amount of potential, with the player only 22 at this stage.

That could make him a more attractive player to recruit permanently than 28-year-old Harrison, with Philogene potentially having more time to grow than the current Toffees loanee.

Signing Philogene could mean the Toffees may require one less signing in the wing department next summer, which may not be good news for Harrison if he wants to sign for the club permanently.

One other factor that doesn't benefit Harrison if Philogene signs is the fact the former's contract at Leeds doesn't expire until the summer of 2028.

That places Leeds in a strong negotiating position and it could persuade the Toffees to opt against signing the Whites' man permanently, especially if Philogene arrives.

And if Harrison isn't signed, that could impact Leeds, who will either include him in their first-team plans or offload him to another club, potentially on a permanent basis, as there didn't seem to be many takers early on in the current summer window, which meant he headed back to Goodison Park on a temporary move.
