Jack Grealish has suffered a stress fracture in his foot and will miss Monday night’s visit from Leeds United, David Moyes has confirmed.

According to Leeds Live, Moyes declined to put a timescale on the Manchester City loanee’s recovery, did not rule him out for the season, and said the club are in close contact with City while they await specialist guidance.

The Everton manager described the setback as significant given Grealish’s influence since the start of the campaign.

Senegal pair Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye have returned after their triumph over Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nationals final last Sunday, but Moyes did not confirm if they will face United as they had only just arrived back.

Everton are boosted by Jarrad Branthwaite’s return to full training, with the defender yet to feature competitively this season, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carlos Alcaraz are also back on the grass and moving closer to selection.

Michael Keane is suspended and Tim Iroegbunam remains out.
