Evertton Araújo is enjoying his best spell at Flamengo under Leonardo Jardim, having opened the scoring against Vitória in the Copa do Brasil then embracing his coach.
According to Globo.com, the 23-year-old said he is learning a lot from Jardim and his staff, is pleased with his chances and wants to keep helping the team. He credited his upturn to hard work, stressing dedication on and off the pitch.
Long-range shooting is a daily focus in training for Evertton, and this was his third senior goal for Flamengo, after one last year and another in 2024.
He has 18 appearances this season, 15 as a starter, including six in succession. He only missed out to serve a ban against Bragantino after a red card versus Corinthians, which was Jardim's sole defeat in charge.
Jardim has described him as intense with significant room to grow, praising his physical capacity, technical progress and strikes from distance. Recent absences meant Evertton played through a demanding run with little chance to rotate.
His form has eased the absence of Pulgar, who is suspended and recovering from a right shoulder dislocation, and could return in the Libertadores next week.
With Pulgar still out, Evertton may have another opportunity on Sunday against Atlético-MG in the Campeonato Brasileiro, which will depend on his recovery in the coming days.
